And sometimes things are genuinely not OP.
I think the bolt pistol is horrifically annoying, and I'd support some mechanics changes, but thats completely different from it being OP, and I dont think it deserves or needs a nerf.
And to tell you where Im coming from, my favorite weapon is the scrambler rifle, which Im trying to get nerfed. I wont even use the stupid thing because its so OP.
Im a big fan of the ak.0 and mk.0 assaults, both of which Ive suggested nerfs for.
Back when scouts were huge I played Cal Scout almost exclusively and was constantly trying to get the broken shotgun/cloak/damp combo nerfed.
Sometimes things are broken, sometimes they are just annoying as hell or people have wierd conspiracy theories about them (like Cal Scout hitbox and the bolt pistol aim assist, which is no better than any other hitscan pistol's aim assist). |

Before it was buffed It was a piece of trash that nobody used except for giggles. And the top three weapons in the game are HMG, shotgun, and scrambler rifle, probably closely followed by the ASCR, ARR, and combat rifle variants (these are guesses, but its certainly not the bolt pistol). |

I have 30 fittings.
1 uses nova knives, 4 are commandos, 1 ion pistol, 3 use bolt pistols, 1 uses a scrambler pistol (for the lulz), 20 use SMGs.
SMGs are flavor of the forever. Not because they are imbalanced, but because they are the best overall sidearm. The only thing the bolt pistol has over the SMG are range, so I use it with shotgun and HMG fits. That is the only niche they have. These things arent OP, they arent even FOTM, I see them in maybe 30% of the games Im in, much less get killed by them. Meanwhile I see SMG every single game. Again not because the SMG is OP, but because its the best all around sidearm.
Stop trying to get one of the 4 functional sidearms nerfed. We dont need another useless boondogle, I already have stupid screw around trolling fits with the ion pistol and the scrambler pistol, I dont need another one.
Even now with all the agitation on the forums the thing isnt used nearly as much as the SMG, thats because people use it and actually notice that the SMG serves them better in 90% of instances where a sidearm is needed, and literally any light weapon is better than the bolt pistol. |
